In 1999 a Drummer named Chris Kratz and a New Yorker DJ named Robert Daxx (Sage Club, Schleuder Club Dresden) founded a project and began at a point where most other groups ends.

What shortly was only possible on personal computers bring the DRAGSTARS 100% LIVE on stage.

Like a sampler gone crazy DJ Robert Daxx scratches through his musical spectrum 80s/90s Disco over House, Techno, Electro and Black Music and mixes his owns vocals and lyrics over and under the wobbling basses, layers tones and effects from keyboard man Charles
Matuschewski (who does remixes for the Beatsteaks and Seeed) that is far from run-of-the-mill sound layers and proves what a keyboard can give and take. Meanwhile drummer Chris Kratz as a brought to life drum machine discredits the lies that carry the opinion that Drum´n´Bass, House or HipHop Beats could only come from a computer. Precise and wary he wows the crowd.

With this so to say "analog" concept draw DRAGSTARS not only veteran clubheads but also every listener that for them modern electronic music is somehow "too electronic" in their wake.

Proof of this is the meanwhile unaccountable concerts influencuate cities in Germany (Berlin, Freiberg, Dresden, Aachen and Pirna) just to name a few and clubs like the ICON, ALLADIN, DELI, ROTER SALON, KAFFEE BURGER, STELLWERK, BASTARD, KUNSTHAUS TACHELES and the list goes on.

In may 2004 DRAGSTARS won second place at the Carnival of Cultures, a carnival widely known and highly respected way beyond Berlin boundaries. On top of that the guys performed as live band for the FIRST STEPS AWARD , the German film price for young talent.

The DRAGSTARS shoot their vocal shreds, subbasses and driving beats straight to the point, but actually from the hip- and score especially the hips of their audience.
